Onion pakoda - Onion fritters
Cooking time: 10 min. / 7 min.Difficulty: easy
Amazing street food. The best pakodas / pakoras I have had in India were onion fritters sold just by a rail crossing on the way to my favorite surf spot. And as they are quite a lot of trains in India and you are waiting usually pretty long, I always passed the time by this place.
Process
Mix onion, ginger, chilies, curry leaves, cumin and chili powder. Add an egg, salt and mix properly. Add flour, mix again and water and mix again. Butter shouldn`t be watery, just sort of glued together by water.
Heat decent amount of oil on high temperature and put in lumps of prepared material one by one. Create them loose, do not press them hard to try create some nice shape. Indian style pakodas are untidy too :) Turn from time to time. Deepfry until they get golden-brown color from all sides.
Serve both warm and cold as well with sweet chili sauce or any kind of your favorite sauce.
