- Prawns, shrimps and dried shrimps
Prawns and shrimps are not only a seafood, but fresh water creatures as well. The difference is in size. Prawns are the larger ones.
- Fish satay - Saté ikan laut
One of my favourite specials of Bali in Indonesia. Satay made of various kinds of minced fish and shrimps with coconut and a pleasant combination of spices. Usually grilled by the road on bamboo skewers, sometimes on lemon grass stalks, which give to satays amazing aroma.
- Goi cuon - Fresh spring rolls
Popular Vietnamese dish. Perfect for hot summer days. As many of other Vietnamese cuisine dishes, there are no spices used for the rolls. The flavor is added by any kind of your favorite dipping sauce.
- Cha gio - Fried spring rolls
When thinking of Vietnamese cuisine, fried spring rolls would probably belong to the three top of mind dishes. The filling is very variable. You can use minced pork, or go for a vegetarian version. One of the vegetables used often in Vietnam is a corm of taro, Colocasia.
- Som Tum - Green papaya salad
This Thai salad is a perfection itself. Firstly it was prepared by a really nice couple by the road, who were passing by with their mobile kitchen on a sidecar. You just wave on them, they stop and prepare straight in front of you what you choose from their offer. The combination of flavours of lime, palm sugar, peanuts, shrimps, chilies ..... do I really need to add more?
